a visit…

January 5, 2009

My brother and his family came to visit starting on the 27th of December and they stayed until New Years Eve. We had a great time. They live in Maryland so we do not get to see them that often. Once a year mostly. They stayed in our home this time. 5 extra people in our house was crazy busy. hehehe It was fun tho. More stories are coming….I know it has taken me a while to get this posted. Still going thru all the pictures I took while they were here. These pictures are of the cousins - Ethan, Maiya and Grayer. Ethan and Maiya are 2 yrs old and Grayer just turned 4 on Jan 5th. Can’t believe he is 4 already. Happy Birthday Mr. Grayer!! I hope you have a wonderful birthday party!

just alittle snow...
Today we went over to my parents house to celebrate my birthday. Yes I realize it was like 2 weeks ago, BUT my dad only has every other weekend off…so it was pushed til today. This picture above is our drive over to their house. Crazy huh?
daddy walking ethan up the hill
Ethan was really excited to be able to go in the snow and play. He couldn’t wait til we got his gear on. And that sure does take a while with an anxious 2 year old. My parents have a very large yard with several little hills. We didn’t have a sled for him to ride in so my dad got the trash can lid for him to go down the hill on…Worked great and Ethan loved it.
daddy just pushes me down the hillethan sledding down a hill in a trash can lid
After some sleding we decided to go cut down a Christmas tree for my parents. I don’t recall the name of the place we went but we always go to the same place in Rockford to get the tree.
Don’t we look cold???? Ethan so did not want a picture at this time….he was throwing a fit, that’s why he was on the ground.
Josh, Ethan and I
I love his lil red cheeks and nose…he had a great time looking all around the tree farm.
Ethanit's a little cold..
We eventually found one, considering we all like different styles of trees. We got a FULL Figured sized tree. LOL This tree is very plump let me tell you. Josh and my dad had to carry it up a hill…I think it was pretty heavy. =)
My dad and Josh
We returned home with the tree. We put Ethan down for a nap…he was cranky and tired let me tell you. Way past nap time. We had a great dinner. THANKS MOM!! And then we decided to play Wii. Oh how so much fun Wii bowling is!! I love it…I can whoop some booty in that game.
My last game today I had 10 strikes and left open 2 frames. hehehe I was trying to get all strikes but that didn’t work…maybe next time.

Getting weighed....7lbs...1oz...21in
I can’t believe my baby is 2 yrs old now. 2 Yrs ago today I becme a Mother. Something I have always wanted. ANd now I have this precious little boy to love. He is so special I can’t even put it into words. I just love him so much. Never thought you could love someone so much.
That day was a tough day. The birth and leading up to his birth did not go as I had planned. None of it. Which is okay…because I had a healthy child.

just minutes after ethan was born This picture was just minutes after having him. I know I look horrible…but what do you expect, I just had a baby…LOL
I was so tired because I had not slept at all the night before. I had ethan at 5:05pm. And then labored the whole night before and that day…I was tired.
Daddy holding his son

I love this picture of Ethan and Josh….such a special memory for me to see Josh holding him and so happy!

Hours old
My sweet precious boy….so innocent.
What happened? hahaha he grew up!
But I am glad to be able to remember these moments.

11 days old

I totally love this picture of him at 11 days old. I know his eyes look a little cross-eyed but I still think it is precious. The blanket he is on is one that my mom made out of that minky and has Pooh on the other side. It is soooo soft..I love it.

11 days old

Another sweet picture of him. I love looking back at all his baby pictures just to remember how small and sweet he was. I am glad that I have so many pictures to remember these precious days. (over 10,000 in his first year, rediculous I know)

2 months old

This is Ethan at 2 months old. I totally love his smile. Just makes your heart melt.
4 months old
He was always so bald. I loved it.

I love when he would grab his toes…just adorable.

6 months
He truely didn’t like to sit in the grass at all…that’s why he has that look. He was not happy…a second after this picture he was screaming. hehehe…Am I mean? He is 6 months old in this picture…=)
12 months
Then jumping to 12 months old….he looks like such a little man…crazy what 6 months can do!!
16 months

16 months old….growing so fast into a little man…by this time he had such a little personality…oh boy!!
23 monthsI can’t believe he is 2
years old. I had to throw in this silly picture because that is how he is most of the time…silly. He has grown leaps and bounds….talking so much…and clear as day…he amazes me everyday.

Like today…he gets up to the kitchen table…we have a pub style table…so I helped him….we put his Bumbo seat on the chair so he can reach….he says..”I’m hungry!” I said “Okay, What would you like to eat?” Clear as day he says, “I want some cereal.” I was like…okay I will get your cereal…it was sooo cute. I will have to show you the picture of him at the table…it is cute..I am thinking the high chair is out now.

eating at the table..

He is sooo darn cute. LOL…I know I always say that…but I am his mom I am allowed to.

I will post pictures from his party. It is on Saturday! Oh here is the invite…I thought it turned out cute!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ETHAN!!
We love you lots!!

Ethan is sooo into computers. He just always wants to be on ours. Josh has a laptop and I have a desktop. He is obsessed really….puters as he calls them.
Josh happened upon 3 very old laptops a while ago and so he got one of those out for Ethan to play with….oh he was just thrilled beyond belief. He couldn’t get enough of it. We also got out one of our 50 million mouses that we have so he could use that. He thought it was the best thing!! He isn’t going to hurt it sooo why not.
It was so cute to sit there and watch him at his lil desk typing away and playing with the mouse….looked like he really knew what he was doing!!

As for being sick…..I think it is going around. Ethan has had a runny nose for a couple weeks now. I wish that would go away. Wiping it every 5 minutes is a pain. Although he is doing really well with letting you!
Today I started with a scratchy throat and now it hurts…and I am getting congested…I can’t believe I am getting sick again after the 5 weeks of bronchitis….why me??? I just hope it isn’t bad. Plus I really didn’t wanna be sick for Ethan’s party….
oh and speaking of his party I found this really cool football bowl….it is sooo perfect….you will have to wait to see pictures.
And another thing…Ethan got this AWESOME package in the mail from Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Shamay. Oh it is sooo cool…Ethan LOVES it you guys. I will post pictures of that soon too. THANK YOU JEREMY AND SHAMAY!!! He totally loves it.
It is officially winter, Oh the cold weather hurts me. It is sooo cold now. It was like 27 degrees today. And not to mention it has snowed 3 times in the past week. Nothing is sticking around…but still….I am not sure I am ready for this snow!!!

Saturday we woke up and headed to my parents house. We then headed off to Klackle’s Orchard in Greenville with my parents. Klackle's Orchard - 2008
This is Ethan on the way to my parents house. He was reading his train book. He loves trains.

Klackle's Orchard - 2008There were so many things to do at the Orchard, I think Ethan was overwhelmed….I know I was…LOL

Ethan has never been on one of these play bounce things…so we thought it would be fun to try it. Josh had to go with him because it was like an obstacale course…He seemed to like it…Actually I know he did bcause we were walking away from it and he started throwing a fit. LOL

We took this fire truck over to another part of the Orchard. There were so many things to do there. There was a corn maze, putt putt, and dirt bikes. We ended up trying the corn maze.

It was pretty fun….but I do believe was too long for some people….Lots of turns and wrong ways…and such. We ended up going back the way we came because it kept going and going. Ethan thought it was really fun…he kept pointing us as to which way he wanted to go. So cute!! After finally getting out of that, we took a ride over to pick some apples.

Klackle's Orchard - 2008

This was so much fun picking the apples. Ethan loved it. After we got our bags full we of course had to try them. Ethan decided he wanted his own and just bit right into one. It was soooo cute. He has never done this before. I was totaly shocked that he would just bite into the apple, not ever having one before, like that.

Klackle's Orchard - 2008

Then it was off to pick out a pumpkin. We had a really great day. It was hot and all of us got sunburned…lol

On our way home…this was ethan…He was so dead tired…well with no nap until 3pm, when he usually goes down at 10 or 11am.

We had decided that were going to make Apple Crisp with these wonderful apples we picked. They were so yummy. Plus we love Apple Crisp and what a great Fall dessert. The recipe is below:
Apple Crisp

Apple Crisp

Bottom:
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter or margarine
Filling:
36 ounces of sliced apple
1/4 cup apple juice
1 cup sugar
1/4 cup cornstarch
Topping:
1-1/2 cups rolled oats
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
5 tablespoons butter or margarine
In a bowl, combine flour, brown sugar and salt. Cut in butter until crumbly. Pat into a greased 9-in square baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, peel and cut the apples. In a medium sauce pan, add apples, apple juice, sugar, and cornstarch. Bring to a boil, stirring consistantly, for about 2 minutes or until thickened and apples are soft, then remove from heat. Pour onto crust. For topping, combine oats, brown sugar and flour. Cut in the butter and mix until crumbly. Sprinkle over filling. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until golden and bubbly.
This recipe is just fantastic….Josh and I love it. I got it from my mom. It is the best!!!

My parents have been painting and doing new things to there home. They used to have all WHITE walls….not anymore…Full of warm gorgeous colors now.
I just wanted to share this awesome wall display of photos. My SIL got her this wall picture frame hanging thing….(is that even anything). Well she added a few other frames on either side of it to make it bigger. I love it. And so does she…..She thanks you Shamay!

Nana and Papa!

April 2, 2008

We went to my parents house on Sunday for Josh’s birthday. We had a good time. I really wanted to get some good shots of my parents with Ethan. For some reason I don’t have very many. So here is what I got. Ethan was being very stubborn and didn’t want to sit still to get a picture. So this will have to do.

Ethan’s favorite new toy at nana’s and papa’s house. It is a really fun activity center. He loves it.

Ethan eating organic carrot cake that my mom made for Josh’s birthday. He loved it.
Also trying to a big boy and eat with a big fork. It was so cute.
